Just the Thing

Sally Gossamer Wingstep
Came slogging down the street
Having nothing decent to wear
And having had nothing at all to eat
Up beside came Bitsy Baddle Beal
As furious as furious could possibly be
Her scarf and shoes were the wrong shade of awful
And that’s just not right, don’t you agree?
They headed to their clublet
‘Wretched Fooles are We’
For foolish fairies who missed their chance
To meet their Fairie Queen at High Tea
Oh, dreaded was their punishment
With Quite Imperial sharp stings
EVERYwhere they had to walk
Forbidden to use their wings!
The meeting was gaveled open
Elevator speeches galore
Woe is me and woe is you
Networking can be such a bore
-but-
A last announcement offered hope
Oh, such Huzzahs and a hooray
Another High Tea was being planned
For sometime half-past mid May
Thrice up jumped Sally and Bitsy
A chance for long-sought redemption
To scrape and such and meet their Queen
And earn the coveted clublet exemption
So when you feel you’ve missed that big chance
Listen to what the Fairies sing:
If you want to be soaring on high
Networking is just the thing!

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
