The Kite and The Tiger Moth

The Kite flies so badly
Beaten and tossed
By winds sly and capricious
All may soon be lost

Missing his tail
Hanging on by a string
But that is not all
There’s this curiouser thing

All the Kite’s efforts
Aren’t tied to staying aloft
What he wants most of all
Is to follow one sweet little Tiger Moth

But the moth flitter flutters
All over the place
Like she cannot decide
Which way is best to face

While the Kite soars, then tumbles
The moth moves away
The poor Kite cannot follow
On his string he must stay

Fare-thee-well, oh sweet little Tiger Moth
The Kite sings his love
Wishing her happy horizons
Like the ones he sees from high above

Oh, the string has broken!
The Kite is set free!
Will he find his sweet little Tiger Moth?
Perhaps, one day, we’ll see…

Down…down…down…settles the Kite
Now just string and tattered cloth
Look! Is it…coming this way…
That sweet little Tiger Moth

Flip flutter flitter
She settles upon the Kite’s bow
Deciding here she’ll build her nest
Kite and Tiger Moth, at last, together now

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
