Were You There

You must keep my secret
You canna tell a soul
Dire things ma happin
Like ya very breath was stole
Never share this story
Shouldn’t be hard to do
Every word is Gospel
Every word untrue
I knew a silly man
Who liked to walk his fish
Up and down the byways
On the Ile Du Palm De’Lish
Crossing the Esperanza
Hoping I’d have something ta say
I was halfway to the door
Of the Red Trellis Caffe
Iddy Garza would be there
David B would be too
Sarah E might visit
To show off her new tattoo
Kathy LP just made it
Casey came at the run
Yes, there was SeaufyPeg
Oh this would be so much fun
Wine came with the candle-light
Olive oil and crevettes
File Cajun Band was playing
They promised at least three sets
Stories from the Vallarta
Tales from the seas
As the wind kept on prancing
Dipping and swinging the trees
Dancing followed dessert
Oh what a grand time was had
But candles must be blown out
But the ending wasn’t that sad
New friends were made and met
At the Red Trellis Caffe
So ends my little story
That’s ‘bout all I have to say
Never share this story
Shouldn’t be hard to do
Every word is Gospel
Every word untrue
Just you look out for walking fish
If ever on the Ile Du Palm De’Lish

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
