Out, Daddy, Out

Out, Daddy, Out
I’m still taking my bath
I’ve my toys all lined up
This is so much better than Math!

But where is your soap?
You’re not washing behind your ears
At the rate you’re going
You’ll be in here for years!

Daddy, please, Daddy
Can’t I play a little more?
I promise I’ll read 10 minutes
But those phonograms ‘r’ a bore

Out, Baby, out
Got to finish Fact Homework 2002B
The harder we work now
The easier it gets later, you’ll see

Daddy, I’m finished
Can I now please go to bed?
My head’s about to fall off
With all this stuff in my head

Yes, precious little one
Time to put out the light
I’m so proud of all the work you’ve done!
Love you, sweet dreams, and now, nighty-night

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
