Happy Mom’s Day

With a sweet crunch
the watermelon yielding to gravity
and split open
the little blonde-haired girl
barefoot in the copse
buried her face into Summer

Seeds flew and yums bounced
off the hills of Old Hometown
freckles spread along the wry smile
as the little blonde-haired girl
pondered another melon

But dinner calls arrived just in time
and the barefooted girl
scrambled out of the glen
Because Mom’s cornbread beckoned
with Summer yet lingering

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
