Business Card

I asked for her card
She gave me a smile
So pretty, so bright
I thought I’d hang awhile
Oh, then I saw the ring
On the correct finger
I knew I was wrong
In wanting to linger
So back to my house
With dust bunnies and a cat
Imagining a once upon a time
When I didn’t think like that
Just a stray on the prowl
All by himself and lonely
Hoping the chance’ll come
For my own one and only
Maybe I’ll get her card
But I now have her smile
So pretty, so bright
A nice memory in my meanwhile

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
