Aitch-E-Double Hockey Sticks

If prophets again walked about
Would we even care to listen
The stars no longer terrify
Haloes no more glow or glisten

Now a smaller Universe lingers
As priests abuse Facebook pages
10 commandments dwindle to two
While the Imam of LasVegas rages

Man ingests the tree of knowledge
Being sure to count every ring
Now just a simple question
Does faith still mean anything

Announce we the Higgs Boson
As scientists bow and nod
But where did IT come from
Pfffth! Or some other god

If prophets again walked about
What stories have they to tell
How nice your hadron collider
But you’re still going straight to
Aitch-E-Double Hockey Sticks

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
