Iris Breeze

The Austin sirocco blew thru the night
Bending over the sidewalk iris
PYT driver on the right fixed her perfect ponytail
Not seeing my admiration focusing on the forever red light
Green, and we all made it to the next red light one block farther
Now, her make up didn’t need retouching, but
Green, and the onramp only hosted me praying for a Shell station
3.43 was ok but the 3.15 two weeks ago seemed better
But Louisiana was two weeks ago-away
Filled up
But that sidewalk iris with perfect white blossoms
Will again be ignored by the panhandler in the morning rush
I won’t be there to wonder how a flower survives a drought
But I’ve been without healing caresses for some time
Park, home
Hi, Iris

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
