pumpkin, pumpkin

pumpkin pumpkin
make us a pie
fill it up with love
topped with whipped creme
piled a mile high

pumpkin pumpkin
tell us true
granma cooked the turkey
baked with walnut stuffing
and dripping gravy too

pumpkin pumpkin
d’you have cousins, uncles, and aunts
who after Thanksgiving dinner
can’t fit into their pants

pumpkin pumpkin
what do you say
do you like football
well grab that ol’ pigskin
let’s go outside and play

pumpkin pumpkin
please don’t be so vexed
ya know i’ll see you next year
but Christmas is next!

–Happy Thanksgiving!

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
