Aren’t You Coming to Newtown?

Aren’t you coming to Newtown?
No, there’s nothing for me there
Don’t you care about the news?
Yes, but that I cannot bear
Aren’t you celebrating Christmas?
Yes, of course, tis a wonderful season
What makes you so hopeful?
Well, families are the main reason
What of that mother in Sandy Hook?
I think she was hopelessly overdone
Should she have called for help?
Yes, I’m sure they’d have come
Why did Young Adam do it?
Of that no one can be really be certain
Why did no one see the signs?
We’ve yet no tools to look behind the curtain
Have you followed the TV coverage?
No, I care not for society at the nadir
Well, what then is your take on this matter?
It’s Merry Christmas and Love Thy Neighbor

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
