A Mayan Job Alert

His day had finally come
Compiling the Long Count was done
Back to K’ek’chi his aim
Another would start the next Bak’tun
The Lords of the Night smiled down
As the lone Mayan headed home
Proud of his time of royal carving
A Calendar for the tribe’s holy dome
But then Spaniards invaded Guatemala
Bringing along their alien Eastern ways
So the next Long Count wasn’t restarted
Thus the ‘end’ in the Mayan ‘End of Days’
So on this day of the Winter Solstice
An opening awaits in the Place of Trees
As Project Manager for the Long Count
And that apocalypse? Oh, please!

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
