And Don’t Forget To Be Awesome

Whatever twists you may take
Down this road of dreams,
You may find, just in time,
Jolly unreasonable themes.

Plan the holidays far in advance:
Talk with all your best exes.
But best laid plans in these wan hinterlands,
Blow up with sublime psychotropic complexes.

Christmas presents: some may come
In ’layaway,’ ‘pay in advance’ or ‘maybe next year.’
Wash it all down, lose that frown
With eggnog or some same such good cheer.

‘Over the river and through the woods’
Was written by a winsome abolitionist.
Study your history and maybe you’ll see
Things looming in Time’s far hidden mist.

Whatever twists that may come
I hope for you the grandest things.
If it gets deep, this thought you ought keep:
You can always wait to see what tomorrow brings!

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
