Tea With Benefits

Yes, won’t you please come over
And share this cup of tea?
There’s a picture of a running girl
Embossed on the mug, can you see?
It’s whence my daughter was four
And running barefoot in the back yard;
Back when life was less complicated,
When finding love wasn’t nearly so hard.
Marriage proved to be fifty-fifty;
Odd how most truisms prove to be true.
But that’s some old, old news;
Let’s start our own history, just me and you.
We can start with this first cup of tea;
Come on over and we’ll see what we’ll see.

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
