Placed

Thousands of grandpas wasting away;
Nowhere to go, nowhere to play.
What can they do with all of this time?
Who’s to blame for such a crime?
99-plus years and into nursing home placement
Get out of the way! You sure this is what was meant?
Lovely decorated cells some with carpets galore:
This is where we stick family we don’t want any more.
Dad was so wonderful when young with hair so thick.
Now he doesn’t know it’s me and his memory is like a brick.
It takes too much trouble to have him around.
He has those accidents and sometimes falls to the ground!
How do you accessorize Grandpa to make him pc?
When you get this old is this how you want to be
Placed with 1000s of grandpas wasting away
With nowhere to go and nowhere to play?

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
