A heart stopped still

Way back when we were so unforgiveable
We all dated the wrong somebody
And really, shouldn’t have loved the one we’re with,
But that’s another time story.
Now we approach those gates
And lay the burden down.
We try to put on our best cracked smile
Thru the tears of our frontman clown.
Where’s Al’s hammers? And,
A heart stopped still.
Never found that one thing
Worth dying for on said hill.
But listen to them sassy keys
With harmonizing guitar;
Sink into it with closed eyes
And sister you’ll travel far far.
Got their latest record
Downloaded to my mp3
Man, can you dig that!?
Baby, won’t you dance with me?
Ain’t no forever thing
Living this our one and only go,
But I made it to Jazz Fest
Something better, I don’t quite think so.

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
