Usefully

Don’t wanna be rich and famous,
Though I wouldn’t turn it down;
Just make me useful,
Not just another clown.
Let me use my skills
Tame as they may be.
Please let me useful
For my fellow humanity.
Like, hold a staggered hand
Or soothe a crumpled brow;
These things I can do,
These things I know how.
Love thy neighbor,
No matter where from;
Bring a bit of ease,
No matter how come.
Just let me be useful,
I have so much to give,
Just a mongrel social worker
As long as I can live.

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
