Prize Peace

Malala Yousafzai was (finally) awarded the Nobel Peace Prize today.
So, in her honor, a reprise:

She was on the bus on her way home
Another 8th grader’s day was done
Thinking of homework and some such
Not about a Talibani coming with his god gun
Malala wants to be a doctor
Now she desperately needs one
Hope she survives this pop assignment
Hope that Talibani considers his job done
But what is Islam afraid of?
Would Muhammad really approve?
How do you make an Enlightenment happen?
Pray Malala can heal and improve
Barack got a Nobel Peace Prize
For what, no one can really say
Malala Yousufzai actually is earning hers
Pray God she might recover to go outside to play

Malala Yousafzai, 14, was taken to a local hospital and then to the northwestern city of Peshawar for further treatment, but doctors said she was out of danger. Two other girls were also wounded, police officer Rasool Shah said.

Malala won international recognition for highlighting Taliban atrocities in Swat with a blog for the BBC three years ago, when the Islamist militants led by radical cleric Maulana Fazlullah burned girls’ schools and terrorised the valley.

She received the first-ever national peace award from the Pakistani government last year and was nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize by advocacy group KidsRights Foundation in 2011.

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
