Departing Aleppo

Down the wreck that once was her yard the girl walked over the crumble
Leaving Aleppo is far harsher each and every day
Things pop up, blow up, and wall off the way

Mom eyes vacant sits next to the window
Pages of the koran skitter in the breeze

Cousins left weeks ago
Don’t know where they’ve gone
Cannot think about tomorrow

About Kitt

Sometimes a rhyme or couplet wanders across my consciousness. So, I share it. Other times I'm a hospice social worker; others, a Dad; others, southerner, New Orleanian, cajun enthusiast, voter, and on better days, a not-too-awful-poet/rhymster. Welcome to my page. Enjoy.
