Interrogatory

Apparent suicide,
Military intelligence.
Will I be so well regarded
When I achieve some past tense?
Foster a puppy?
Get it together,
Hang on you guys
We’re in for some nasty weather.
Spin some ‘Stones,
Maybe Moonlight Mile?
She’s gone to the theatre—
Can I hang with you awhile?
Or Doobies ‘White Sun;’
Does that make me a racist?
We’re just swaying to the groove;
Please put your PC into cease and desist.
Teachers in tights,
Boots above the knee.
It’s not the clothes, moron.
It’s the quality of the preceptor, see?
The A/C is back on,
The kid’s at St. Ed’s;
All that folded laundry
And, lately, unmade beds.
Waiting for your call,
Ringer turned up high.
Jack the cat stretches
And turns over with a sigh.
The only interrogative:
So, how did it go?
If I only knew,
I would let you know.

Mixed Emotions

Mixed emotions swirl
Then fall down
And curl
Another merlot-fueled atrocity
Masquerading as inspired verse
But it’s far from free random
Something much much worse
Second glass empties
Begs a refill—
Yes, please
A young Friday evening
Perseverating in isolation
I’d love to have a date
But that requires some ambulation
The ringer on mute
A cell insolent,
No pursuit
A Facebook lovely in Killeen
How to make a connection?
So many never-never starts,
Dust-in-sprinkles wet the imagination
Mixed emotions weigh
Then slip off
Anyway

I Know I’ll Never

Scattering of chittering
And the birds have flown
So here again all alone

Thinking of you
To what end
I know I’ll never
See you ever again

So pour me a second

Yes a red will do
Maybe this is the night
I finally get over you

Hah! No chance—
The sadness augments
When it came to you
I never had any sense

Hands thru your locks
Your snort at my observation
Could you call me thence?
Should I make that reservation?

The dregs sneer and embrace me soft

Bacchus makes for second class
But my problem always was
Reaching for the next and the after glass

Goosebumps tease
And memories seize
My cell remains unrung
I miss our tongue

Defrosting the Salmon

Stupid Austin
Stupid Austin drivers
Stupid Austin traffic
Stupid Austin traffic where this morning’s 5 minute drive is now AN HOUR! [rounding down!]
Stupid Austin with pretty green medians where lanes SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDED YEARS AGO!
Stupid Austin drivers
Bad drivers
Pin head drivers
Gray-hair drivers
G.D. drivers
“Awe, COMEON!” drivers
Change lanes and then signal drivers
Drivers on their cellphones and not MOVING UP
Light turns green and the citizen puts it in reverse drivers
Flaming traffic and drivers so I cannot get home to
Get ready for my turn with the heiress cuz it’s my weekend
And I can’t begin~
